DigiCell M12 Progress Meeting held in Bern
At the beginning of DigiCell’s second project year, the consortium gathered in Bern, Switzerland, where METAS hosted the project’s M12 Progress Meeting on 23-24 January 2025.
The first meeting day focused on the progress in our technical Work Packages. This included an update of activities with regard to
- data management and analytics, with IRES showing us exciting new tools and flow charts to depict inter-task and data flows
- advance materials characterisation methods to evaluate the performance of battery electrodes, cells, and module configurations.
- a FEM (Finite Element Method) simulation done by LEITAT with JKU data
- alignment on multi-physics modelling between JKU, KEYS and UPJV
- single cell cycling and characterisation as well as aging simulation of modules and cells at KREISEL
On the second day, ISC gave fascinating insights into the process of bringing in new standards with the IEC – International Electrotechnical Commission. They participated in the TC 113 Meeting on "Nanotechnology for Electrotechnical Products and Systems" last November in London suggesting two new work items from DigiCell. Furthermore, EURICE led the discussion on upcoming communication and dissemination activities, including a social media campaign on women in science and plans for collaboration with the EMMCas well as Battery 2030+ and the INERRANT project. Finally, we looked ahead and finetuned our expected Key Exploitable Results. In the upcoming months, we will start to develop individual plans and pathways for the most promising results.
The meeting was closed with a visit to the METAS laboratories. As the national metrology institute of Switzerland, METAS is responsible for providing measurements and consulting services to Switzerland and the European Commission. In DigiCell, they conduct traceable EIS measurements and makes use of the UncLib library to tackle machine-learning problems int eh frame of battery characterisation.
A big thank you to Johannes Hoffmann and Fabian Guignard and their team for hosting us and making us feel welcome!
