DigiCell Coordinator Contributes Expertise to EU-Japan Enhanced Dialogue on Advanced Materials

The recently published joint report of the European Commission and the Cabinet Office of Japan titled ‘Expert Group under the EU-Japan Enhanced Dialogue on Advanced Material Recommendation’ outlines strategic recommendations for future collaboration between the EU and Japan in five key domains of advanced materials research: construction, energy, mobility, electronics, and data-driven research and development. Drawing on the expertise of 12 leading specialists, including Ferry Kienberger, coordinator of the DigiCell project, the document highlights shared challenges, complementary strengths, and opportunities for joint innovation to accelerate sustainable materials development.

“This report is not the end point but the beginning of a dynamic collaboration. It opens the door to new scientific and industrial partnerships between the EU and Japan that will drive innovation in advanced materials for years to come,” emphasises Ferry Kienberger.

Building on the dialogue, DigiCell is now working to leverage these new connections with Japan – strengthening international cooperation and fostering the exchange of knowledge across Europe and Japan in the field of advanced materials research.
